Les,
As I said earlier I would speak to my friend who owns a jewelry business in MA and see what he thinks. Here is how it went:

(R - Rob, J - jeweler)
R: Have you heard of C3 and their Silicone Carbide Gems?
J: Yes and yes.

R: What do you think about their products?
J: The SiC gems are hard to tell from real diamonds.

R: Hmmmm
J: But that's not where they make their money.

R: Oh?
J: They make their money from selling these machines to jewelers that detect the difference between real diamonds and fake ones (the mossenite (sp?) ones). The machines are about $500. Within a year the market should be completely saturated with their gems and there won't be anywhere for that part of their business to grow.

R: Hmmm
J: Any good jeweler can tell the difference between real and fake. Their machine market is more for the pawn brokers and chop shop dealers. Are you looking at this as an investment?

R: Well, I always follow up on suggestions from level headed people and I thought this was interesting enough to look into.
J: Don't bother.

Well, not what you wanted to hear, but that's one man's (a relative expert in the field) opinion anyway.

- Rob
