Why the excitement??? The purpose the annual shareholders meeting,I believe, is to inform, to vote on propositions by management,to give guidance for the future and the like.Also shareholders will have an opportunity to ask questions about the past and future of the company and to air complaints if any. People are psyched up for reasons stated above.It is an important event anyway you look at it. Split: You are correct, split does not create any additional value to the company or the shareholders per se but in the event of a split shares will trade at a lower price attracting a lot more investors that it otherwise would have and if the stock is undervalued this will give the stock further momentum to go higher. I am sure someone more knowledgeable would correct me if I am wrong or add to my comments in case I have missed anything important.
