Well, I guess my lurking days are officially over.

The companies that FNTN will be servicing should have their own LAN (Local Area Network) servers in place. If not they will need to be provided and set up. (Therein lies the importance of the Siemans alliance) However, it's unlikely that a company that doesn't already have a local network will need to be connected to an intranet. These servers will then need to be connected to either and ISDN (cheap but impractical for moving heavy data) or a T-1 or T-3 line. The installation of a T-1,3 line can cost upwards of $2,000 with monthly fees that range between $500 and $2,000 plus bandwidth.

I know from speaking with the company in the past, that this has been one of the big problems getting started with the intranet service. By definition, in order to have an Intranet, one has to have two or more sites to be connected and that can get righteously expensive.

However, to get an Intranet set up can literally take MONTHS for a company to accomplish and is a SERIOUS technical and financial pain. I am first-hand aware of a large local pharmaceutical company that recently spent over $1.2 million dollars setting up an Intranet JUST TO TRAIN THEIR SALES STAFF.

If FNTN has developed a way for companies to enjoy a "plug and play" type intranet and get it up and running. Well, I've been trying to avoid speculating too much, so I'll leave that to me heroes TechnoWiz and Richard. Lets just say it's a big deal.

FNTN long and holding,
