Another thought related to timely 3G issue: If upgrade path to 3G converges on cdmaOne migration path (because it is the most cost effective approach), then a somewhat smaller marketing battle remains at the carrier level, delyaing an all-out industry blitz indefinately, and leaving the Q to focus on marketing phones and hand-held units.

Maybe it is important to consider the kind of leverage that will be gained just by winning an upgrade path to ITU's harmonized standard, which by design will also open up the European market to U.S. firms. If you want our IPR, then let's do a trade deal.

Up to now, I hadn't considered the relationship of the company marketing to the 3G battle, or even thought about the potential for huge savings from future marketing budgets. Correct me if I'm wrong.
