Compaq is peddling an on/off product in Japan for 19,000 yen (that's $136 at today's exchange rate). It seems eminently nonsecure, and not otherwise very useful:

biz.yahoo.com

What we are starting to see with these rollouts are opening shots in the user marketplace. It reminds me of when computers first came out, and were usable for storing recipes or as typewriters. Early adopters were enthusiastic simply over a new toy, but the utility wasn't really there yet. That's what these sub-$100 PC readers are like: fun, but not very useful. Let's hope their ornamental status doesn't set back the ultimate markets.

I don't see any way in the world that Mag sells 35 million on/off switches for Who?Vision.
