Property payments at Gaby have been renegotiated so that the next payment of $1,240,000 is not due until July, 1999. EMC has recently consolidated the Gaby gold project with the Papa Grande deposit to increase EMC's preliminary mineable reserve by 65% from 1.6 to 2.7 million ounces of gold with considerable potential for the discovery of additional reserves.

At Beroen, also in Ecuador, EMC now controls 100% of an extensive, high grade, bonanza-style, epithermal gold-silver mineralized system where Rio Tinto drill results include intercepts of 34.5m at 12.3 g/t gold and 27m at 10.4 g/t gold. Individual rock smaple values range up to 113 g/t gold and 541 g/t silver and the main target area has not yet been drill-tested.

EMC is also negotiating to acquire another another potentially high-grade, low-cost gold deposit in Peru.
