Gene - Re: ". And I guess they recognize that need through their new "segmentation" policy. "

This is truly one of Intel's finest marketing ploys since the Intel Inside campaign. They are exhibiting a high degree of flexibility in adapting their unique advantages to a changing marketplace.

The high end Pentium IIs and Xeons will grow the ASPs as the Celeron fights off the low end, debilitating the competition, and yes, offsetting partially the higher ASPs from the high end products.

Re: "Almost look's like Celeron is trying to go down the learning curve faster than K6-2. "

Why not! The Celeron is a Deschutes/Pentium II - and Intel shipped over 10 million of these last quarter. I'd say they are going down that learning curve A LOT FASTER than AMD's K6-2 which shipped about 1/20'th of that volume.
