RE: Jim, try comparing oranges with oranges. But, I guess that's not possible given

The funny thing is, I think I am.
I am comparing stocks to stocks.
That is why I gave stocks from such differing industries. My point is that in the long, and this is really long term, they will all act in a simmilar fashon. This is not to mean that they will all act the same way. It means that there are a lot of different patterns. These can be grouped into similar catagories. DELL falls into one of these sub groups, and You should know what has happened to others in that sub group.

If you want to put DELL's stock price performance into some catagory other than "STOCKS" then I am afriad you will have an upsetting day when you find that DELL is just another stock to be bought and sold.
to profit from and to perish with.

Even if you are a long term holder, DELL will in all likelyhood make a higher high from the days close. The $64 billion question is, is that next high the next day, or is it 14 years away as it was in CLX's case.
