The recent comments by Soundview on INTC and DELL were ill-timed and designed to rescue the lagging Magellan Fund. The Fund has only less than 16 trading days to catch up. If the Fund's performance this year is below the average return of most of the mutual funds. It may lose many big corporate clients who have their pension and 401 K programs in the Fund. Therefore, the desperating Magellan paid unethical Soundview to once again cheat the public.

Soundview has a record cheating the general public. Record shows that after it raised MU's 1996 earning to $17 in August of 1995, MU started a long term declining from $94 to $18. A few months ago, Soundview rated MU a long term buy when it was at $39 level, a few days later people found MU at $18. Earlier this week, it raised INTC's 1997 earning but the stock has dropped from 130 to 125 since then. Today INTC hit the low of 120. It should not be surprised to see that next week people may find DELL to tumble a couple of points simply because Soundview rated it short term hold and long term buy today. Many people now see Soundview's upgrade of a stock is a signal of big fund's dumping of that stock. Watch out!

A class action against Soundview will sooner or later be filed just like the one against Jeff Vinick
