Dear Inch Ante:
You can eliminate the mulitple directories in WOW through the merge feature-
In WOW professional 5.0 just click Securities- Setup- oops- go to explorer and set up a folder under the WOW directory called :
c:\wow\250kmerge or whatever.

then enter this in securities-setup as the security directory- then on a one time basis- click the create-rebuild security index button- click Yes to continue an NO regarding use of CD. then click Merge Data button and look for c:\meta\250vol- then you have to merge each directory and subdiractory one by one. In the end you will have one merged file.
Unfortunately you are creating a hardcopy of the databae in "WOW" format and so you have to do the merge every night- I stopped doing this when virtual QP came along- I just scan in QP and output short files in WOW which I can look at as you so fantastically described in your post. NICE JOB Inch.
