SEATTLE--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--July 17, 1998--Internet Entertainment Group says representatives of what was supposedly two California teenagers who had announced their plan to give up their virginity on a free World Wide Web site cooked up the scheme as a money-making publicity hoax and never intended to go through with the act.

In a rapid series of events over the past 24 hours, IEG first signed an agreement with representatives of "Mike and Diane" to host the couple's Website for their mutual deflowering on August 4th, then terminated the agreement after becoming suspicious that the teens never intended to carry out the act. Later today, attorney Mark A. Vega of the Los Angeles firm of Daniels, Baratta & Fine faxed IEG a letter claiming an agreement between IEG and his clients still exists. IEG is the world's leading provider of adult entertainment sites on the World Wide Web.

IEG identified a mystery man involved in the hoax, Ken Tipton, who has done battle in previous years with conservative religious groups. The company said it had assigned two investigative reporters and a photographer to get additional information about Tipton and his motivation for launching the hoax. The entire story and all correspondence between Tipton, Vega and IEG are available to members and non-members free of charge on the "sex news and announcements" section of the company's popular www.clublove.com Website.

IEG says it has determined that contrary to statements made on behalf of the couple and in representations made to IEG during the negotiations, the organizers of the event planned to charge for the right to view the "consummation" August 4th and visitors to the site would have been duped because the couple did not intend to go forward with the sex act anyway.

IEG President and CEO, Seth Warshavsky said: "the 'Mike and Diane' event may not be all that it was cracked up to be. IEG strives to be legitimate in all of its offerings -- give us the real deal, virgins or not, and we'll put it on the Web."

IEG operates numerous Websites with adult content, and won headlines for bringing the world the notorious Pamela Anderson-Tommy Lee "honeymoon" videotape. The company also operates Websites that provide legal services, gaming and other entertainment and is particularly sensitive to supporting projects that further its First Amendment rights advocacy.
