Hello paul,
Have followed sun for a number of years. Was pretty surprised by their excellent Q...surprised Asia with Wintel are not affected them more. It does become clear though that SUN still has to continue to branch into other areas to keep their growth rate. The simple fact is the larger a company gets, the harder it is to grow as fast. I noticed that while earnings growth was great, revenue growth is still only 13% year over year (very good, but not great).
With Sun focusing more on storage lately (ie. Honda, BA), I was wondering why Sun doesn't ACQUIRE a Fibre Channel company like Brocade (a private firm that makes FC switches) to branch further into where things are heading---the new Storage Area Network paradigm which promises to explode over next few years??? See EMC and SEG for recent comments on the very beginning of FC. This could get Sunw involved in an area with stronger growth and they could take a great lead over Wintel oem's with their storage expertise and recent commitments, not to mention exploit further the scalability advantages of UNIX.

Thoughts??
