All - IMO Canada ahead of U.S. in local number portability - will mean significant difference in ability of CLECs to attract business. This article from newsbytes says local number portability in Vancouver and Calgary by end of July. When Time Warner tried to develop HFC phone network, they found customers unwilling to change their numbers. Business customers are even more unwilling to change number because of goodwill and advertisement expense attached to phone number.
