Digital video, FC storage seem a good match;

Fibre channel storage technology could help decide Major League Baseball's pennant races someday.

The Arizona Diamondbacks, one of this year's two expansion teams, is videotaping all 162 games to help scout opposing teams and evaluate its own players. The organization is using the Clariion FC 5000 storage system along with a video analysis system.

The combined systems let Diamondback coaches analyze 30 games worth of curveballs, pick-off moves, and third-strike swings within minutes.

Sometimes the Diamondbacks find out more than they expected. Says Diamondback video coordinator Glenn Goldman, "It's unbelievable how opposing pitchers tip off their next move."
