To the Surfer: Had to chuckle at Synchro's post. You ain't the only humorist around here, no? As a holder of Tellabs from the stone age or thereabouts, I have found it to be the highest PE consistently underestimated (the charge of limited product especially) company I have held in last few years. Amazing how few understand what TLAB does, let alone why it's future is so bright. I used to call it the "silent company" few press releases, and few posts. In fact on the AOL board weeks would pass without any posts at all. I would put one in from time to time to see if anyone was awake and no one was. :-) The company has just chugged along like a beautifully designed (and constantly redesigned) machine. What most people miss is that digital cross connect is the heart of the telecom management system. And the installed base of Titan and related stuff is a huge advantage to TLAB since it costs a hell of a lot less to upgrade from old Tellab to new Tellab than install brand X from scratch. Of course one third of Tellabs's business in crossconnect is from scratch nevertheless - so no moss grows around their stuff on the shelf. Tellabs has used evolution as an art form, with the best management - bar none - I have observed in the telecom equip area - and I have at least a nodding acquaintance with most - by observation only not directly of course. An example of how tough these guys are is the move to cut out of the "smart radio" wireless hope and move the staff doing the research on that in order to concentrate (with Ciena) in fiberoptics - again an evolutionary path to pure fiberoptics. But all this said I think the Q and Loral are even more likely to outperform in the next few years. TLAB is my third best holding IMO. All this just IMO of course. Chaz
