To George Gilder: Have greatly appreciated your teaching in asap and your letter. Learned much from you. Since spotting emerging trends is IMO the key to successful tech investing, your insights have been very helpful. My investments are my responsibility entirely of course. On thin client, fat server which you spotted early on. Looks like Citrix is the only pure thin client software company and Sun Micro is out in front (with IBM a close second) on the fat server side. Comments? Have followed your views on Java with great interest and seems like you have been skeptical of "pure" Java. Curious as to why - if that is so. Seems like Java is gaining traction especially in communication appliance and embedded uses which may be more important than the vision of write once, run anywhere. Also do you have any comments on Sun's Jini. This is called a paradym shift by some already since it changes the nature of devices' relationship on the network - at least potentially. Could you comment here, or will you be examining Jini and writing about it in your letter? Thanks in advance. Chaz
