GB, I actually already know a bit about this tiny San Diego biotech firm. My feeling is that they are a venture capital company with as much risk as potential. So, if you are talking about wild speculation, Tegra is a decent bet. If you are talking about a serious investment with money that cannot afford to be lost, I would shy away.
On the positive side, they have selling products, but, IMHO, the sale of peptides is much too small to support any type of research program. They do not have great partnerships with major firms, so the only way to raise money is to sell stock. And they have nothing at even a phase II level yet.
So, I would definitely consider the stock in a speculative play that included 5-12 other biotech names. But for a one-shot play, it is simply too small and too uncertain at this time. They are serious folks and not scamming anyone, and the science looks o.k., though not as focused as I would prefer. Still, it is a start up level venture, good for a gamble but not for a huge investment.
Hope this made sense.
