It has been a while since I visited this thread.

<<I am against any form of registration because I am just realistic (or paranoid enough depending on your viewpoint) to believe this can and will be used at some time to track down gun owners.>>

I have a friend who's family fled Germany right after the Nazis took power and I have had discussions on this subject with him. He told me that one of the first things that they did was go down the list of the gun registry and knew exactly who to go to and what they would find. It only takes one time. One mistake and it is all over. It was for them.

I don't agree with a waiting period personally. 2 days, 5 or 7 is not going to make a person any less insane. This so called cooling off period is crap in my opinion and the only purpose it serves is to prevent a person in immediate need of protection from getting a hold of a gun. Protection from a deranged spouse or co-worker who has already been through the waiting period or already has the means to kill.
