Clearly the M2 core is not going to 600 MHz next year. Cyrix says they have a new (Jalapeno) core for 600 MHz. Perhaps they architected the Jalapeno core for megahertz rather than CPI?

Designing for megahertz is actually an easier problem, because it implies a simpler core.
