You might want to take a look at Allied Capital (ALLC). The current yield is @6%. They have a very long record of annual dividend increases. ALLC is a recent combination of 4 entities that were all managed by the same group. This was done to give them greater efficiency. ALLC is a small business lender. They are very good at credit and this gives them a steady income flow. In addition to this as part of their lending activity they get various equity kickers such as warrants. These equity kickers give them a nice boost to earnings over time. Very well managed company and the core of the conservative portion of my portfolio.
