NEWS UPDATE
TREE BREWING COMPANY
(VSC: HOP) - $0.89cdn
HOP is involved in the business of producing and marketing ales and lagers, generally known as craft beer, at its microbrewing facility in Kelowna, B.C. The Company has one wholly-owned subsidiary, Okanagan Juice and Wine Laboratory Inc., (OK Lab). OK Lab is involved in the chemical testing of beer and wine samples. OK Lab conducts microbiological testing of the Company's products to ensure against contamination. To date, the Company has developed four main products and one seasonal beer. The first beer is the Tree Amber Ale which, is a medium bodied ale, slightly darker than pale ale. The second is the Tree Lager which, is a European style lager. Both beers were brewed with a variety of different recipes and then taste tested by the core staff. The third one is the Spy Dark Lager which, is a dark lager, malty with a hint of chocolate, fashioned after the German Dunkel lagers. The fourth is the Red Ale, which is a full bodied hoppy ale, with distinct Willamette hops. The seasonal beer is the Spiced Midwinter Ale, which is 7% beer spiced with cinnamon, orange peel and nutmeg. The following are a couple of highlights of the Company;
*Won three Silver Medals in the World Beer Championship Competition in Chicago in 1998 with over 1500 breweries participating worldwide.
*Their Vice President of Marketing, Malcolm Skinner, is now the Chairman of the Craft Brewer's Association of B.C.
*The Company has several large sales contracts under negotiations.
