Excellent advice on verifying; be sure to check with entities removed from the source of information you are being fed. I have found that court records are helpful and are proof positive; black and white stuff to be sure.

SEC litigation files are a real asset for the investors as well. If something is found there be sure to check out court records. This will tell you if the case is still active, severed, or been dropped. Also a case that has been severed does NOT mean it was dropped; it often means it has been transferred to another district court; like say for instance to get the case move closer to the defendants home area; and is awaiting trial or hearing.
