Who you use to execute a trade is totally unimportant. You don't want a broker's research since most of the time it is advertising that gets you long when the story is old, the company is up, and is about to get whacked. The best source of info is SI. I have been a pro for 30 years and have seen all forms of the best research. It can't hold a candle to the quality of investment insight achieved by the mostly wrong opinions made by the public and expressed on these threads. It is in this dialectic process of ignorant expression that deeper truth is reached than is realized by the most astute financial professionals working directly with the company. If you are interested in some company, BEFORE buying, go read the ENTIRE thread. Some individuals will stand out and if you have questions after having done the laborious work of reading every comment, you can ask the standout individuals. Don't be afraid to ask dumb questions. Often what is dumb is actually thought provoking and has been overlooked by the common understanding. Good idea to get rid of discount brokers. Replace them with internet brokers, they're even cheaper.
