Good afternoon cm....I just read an article, I'm not sure how much of an effect it could have on SEEK, but thought it was rather interesting> "Web Publishers Polish Pitch To Women" msnbc.com
It's an article about two women's net sites that will be doing IPO's, one of them is iVillage, the other women.com (I think).
I wonder if Starwave could ever go public and if that would have financial benefit for SEEK?....I know SEEK received DIS's shares of Starwave but does SEEK have controlling interest in Starwave?...I don't think SEEK needs to shell out any more money, should Starwave ever go public, to ensure it gains controlling interest..SEEK's got enough "bills" to pay now with the advertising "fee" to DIS (165 million).
That brings me to my second question: H. Motro said on June 25th, I think,... "Infoseek is willing to sacrifice short term profits for long term potential." (Ref. DIS/SEEK deal)....Do you think this means the Quarterly earnings announcement results will be that of a set-back and concensus of -.07 may not be met?...I know those of us long on SEEK and who have seen the Portals exceed concensus expectations would like to see (and w/o recent DIS/SEEK deal may have seen) SEEK beating concensus, maybe even to the extent of being in the black...What do you think is likely at this point: MISS, MEET, or BEAT?
