James, I think (hope!) this is just talk and doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of passing. In 1980 this might have made sense. Right now, it is laughable. I would inundate my sen/rep's phone/e-mail with caustic letters if this came even close to a vote. Do you really think that the Washington pinheads would be so imprudent as to commit public monies at these ridiculous valuations? They might as well simply write Wall Street a check for several hundred billion dollars and spare us the pain of having to watch what would surely become a sorry, drawn-out debacle. >:-(
