On the Yahoo board, a poster named Long and Longer responded to jtb_net:

"Donald Beck was brought in for this expressed purpose; "Peritus is
fundamentally an Outsourcing company," says Donald Beck, "that was in
the right place at the right time to take advantage of the tremendous
market opportunity resulting from the Year 2000 crisis. Although we are widely known as a premier Year 2000 solution provider, my emphasis will be to refocus the market on the unique capabilities of our Outsourcing Services and the numerous advantages our clients can achieve as a result of outsourcing their software evolution responsibilities to Peritus."

The company is on record stating it will use the Y2K event as a "spring board" and increase R&D spending to continue to generate revenues and increase market share going forward. When this statement was initially made, it wasn't well received by the market. In fact the stock sold off due to shortsightedness.

I'm excited about the coming earnings release. I'm expecting a very
positive surprise. It going to be interesting to see the revenues earned from other services such as maintenance.

Keep the Faith"
