Hi Paul - re: your comment <...Intel as a software company????>

Let's do some listening beyween the lines. Below is a speech CEO Andy Grove gave in San Francisco on August 27, 1996. He talks about the future role for INTEL in deploying the "Windows Intranet Solutions".

Is it possible that an Intel/Novell combination is the answer to CEO Grove's 'vision'?

Speech by CEO Andrew Grove at the Windows Intranet Solutions
Conference, recorded 8/27. San Francisco (38 min)

OVERVIEW:
----------------------
CEO Grove states that the biggest growth area in this industry will be from the small to medium size business (less than 100 terminal nodes).

Intranet organizations - The browser and Internet technologies allows for a very easy learning curve for end-user deployment of objects (from the server) and managability of the network. In the future, we need to standardize the DMI (desktop management interface) and the complete network interface. According to CEO Grove the next generation "Target Platform" will be a combination of Windows NT and "software" built around DMI.

<Could that "software" that Grove mentions be Novell software? From
many of our previous analysys, I believe we would all agree that the
optimal network platform design relies on the combination of WindowsNT, Novell IntranetWare and a scalable (32-bit) Pentium Pro processors .

Finally a Novell purchase would represent to Intel an investment of 8 new fabrication facilities. A huge invetment and giant leap by Intel to diversify their business. A decision not eaisly made by any CEO, even CEO Grove!>
