Ga Bard:

You made a lot of good sense...except you forgot one greedy possibility.

Someone buys a lot of stock in a company. Then he gets online and touts that he has some inside info. He gets a group following to come on after him and reaffirm his "truth". When other people call and get the standard "no comment", he tells the group that their lawers have probably jumped on their backs and that they are no longer giving out info. If anyone comes on and says that he does not think it is a good stock..they are attacked as naysayers and shushed away from this "great investment". The people that raise an flag of caution are attacked and harrassed until they are forced away. Then weeks go buy..this great inside news never materializes and the stock drops. By this time all of the original people have tripled their money and are out. Then, as people express their anger...the people that blasted everyone who did their DD and came up with doubt...fall back on why didn't you do your DD. Why did you not know your risk, even though they do not allow contrarians to voice their opinion peacefully, they express shock that people followed their "great advice". Now that is a great scam.
