DELL split

Jenna, re your

Also what about DELL's odds of calling a split after earnings. I'm long this one for quite a while and am now on my fourth DELL computer in the last 6 years.

I had been guessing a split in the November time frame. However, after looking at the construction going on, I think it may be earlier. Dell is above the historical split declaration range. Business is obviously good. I truly don't know, but now think that there is a reasonable chance of a split announcement with August earnings. At the meeting, someone asked the question about what criteria DELL uses to institute splits. The answer as I recall (please check the recording) was that there were three criteria the board looks at:

Earnings and revenue growth
Market conditions
Keeping the stock at a reasonable price range

My guess is that all criteria are in the appropriate range now. A concern is that the board or management might find the stock overvalued: however they can see more clearly what growth is. Judging by the construction program, they believe in very strong future growth.

BTW: your 4th DELL in 6 years?? May one enquire what kind of system you use?
