Brad, a few points:
-I am aware that Prozac is prescribed for other conditions than Major Depression.
-the benefit in all these other disorders is questionable I think. Often a pill is substituted for counseling. HMOs pay for pills and not for time consuming ( but more effective ) counseling. Psychologists are having a fit over this. WSJ had an article on this a while ago. Docs are too busy seeing 30 patients a day and hold hands .Prescribe Prozac and off you go.
-Endogenous depression has now changed to Major Depression. The pathophysiology however has not.Typically these patients committing suicide have nothing to be depressed about.
-I agree that media and the Church of Scientology had a lot to do with the Prozac lawsuits. However that is not why those lawsuits were dismissed.They were dismissed because there actually was no proven linkage.

This IS different than Viagra. The medical facts remain, and are, -that Viagra is a powerful potentiator of Nitrates.Under those circumstances the blood pressure drops like a lead balloon and death ensues.
-A very LARGE number of impotent men are , should be, or will be on nitrates.That number is higher than we were let to believe by the PFE studies.
-Time will prove this point, IMHO.Thus I maintain my point which is that comparing Viagra to Prozac is totally off the mark,
