I was wondering how long it would take before Montreal's Patrick Souami made it onto the forum to warn everyone about me. Avalon's already been there, Pat.
For those who appreciate dealing with Crystallex issues (which in my opinion include the KRY Internet promotion), and not poster-to-poster one-upmanship, will be relieved to know I won't be responding to Patrick at the level with which he is most accustomed. Not on this forum, anyway. That said, if Pat wants to address KRY or KRY promotional issues, I'll be happy to participate.
Below is a summary of a particularly interesting tout by Roy Carson. It's from his e-mail service, which he wisely discontinued after Stockwatch began receiving and summarizing them. (Oddly, Roy himself posted the first of these summaries on Stockhouse, and then loudly complained when I did the same.)
---------
From Stockwatch, Wednesday Apr 29 1998
Roy Carson, writing in his VMI-L Briefing of April 26, says Venezuela's Minister of Energy and Mines, Dr. Erwin Jose Arrieta, contacted Crystallex International president Marc Oppenheimer on April 22 to request a meeting with him in Caracas this week. Mr. Carson writes that the minister told Mr. Oppenheimer he has "presents" that relate to either KRY's Albino mine or, "even more possibly", the gold-rich Las Cristinas 4 & 6 concessions. The transplanted Irish journalist, reputed to have high-level contacts both within KRY and Venezuelan officialdom, states: "I have every reason to suppose that Chief Justice Cecilia Sosa Gomez has briefed the President (Rafael Caldera) about the fourth ruling and that he has spoken with Arrieta in private council about it." Mr. Carson, editor of the Internet VENews site, is referring to a pending decision by the Venezuelan supreme court concerning mineral rights at Cristinas. Placer Dome has a work contract at Cristinas, but Crystallex claims title through its local Inversora Mael unit. In an insiderish comment, Mr. Carson describes Mr. Oppenheimer as quietly confident but "bubbling beneath the surface" about the news.
--------
The original is far more eye-popping that the summary, and I wish I could share with you the original's full text, but that really would be an infringement of copyright. Perhaps Roy Carson would care to post the original and offer a defence.
It's tempting to comment on it, but really there's not much to say or do except marvel at its majestic toutiness. I don't think George Chelekis himself on a good day could outdo this one. However, I think it bears repeating that yet again, Crystallex management did not jump in with a denial, and instead offered its tacit approval. Indeed, Roy Carson is a journalist that Marc Oppenheimer says he admires for his accuracy.
(Also, Mr Carson appears to be able to report on individuals' states of mind. Roy previously has offered psychological thumbnails of chairman Bob Fung and Madam Cecilia Gomez, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Venezuela. Both, said Roy, were extremely angry over Placer Dome's claims of victory following the July 15, 1997 ruling.)
