Concentric Now Serves Small To Medium Size Business Market In Greater
Los Angeles
CUPERTINO, Calif., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Concentric Network
Corp. (Nasdaq: CNCX), a leader in value-added IP network services,
today announced the availability of digital subscriber line (DSL)
services in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. Concentric has
served the San Francisco Bay area since November 1997 and is now
expanding its ConcentricDSL service area to Southern California,
offering small to medium size businesses, telecommuters and individuals
a high-speed Internet access alternative.
ConcentricDSL service packages are available in speeds ranging from
144Kbps to 1.5Mbps at prices starting as low as $149 a month, including
all circuit and Internet charges. Concentric has interconnection
agreements with NorthPoint Communications, Inc.
(www.northpointcom.com), a data competitive local exchange carrier
(CLEC) based in San Francisco, and other circuit providers, enabling
the company to offer Internet and intranet access utilizing DSL local
loops throughout greater Los Angeles.

In addition to offering a range of service options, Concentric has
simplified the ordering, installation and billing processes.
Concentric handles all circuit ordering and installation, and provides
the hardware required at the customer's location. Concentric also
offers a single monthly price, so the customer's monthly cost will be
the same regardless of which Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) is used to
supply the DSL circuit. To simplify billing even further, in most
cases Concentric will provide the customer with a single monthly bill
for both the DSL circuit and the Internet access charge.

Monthly charges vary based on line availability and local exchange
carrier.
Installation prices also vary, and are a combination of hardware,
circuit activation and on-site installation charges. Hardware prices
range from $350-550, and circuit activation and on-site installation
charges range from $385-525.
Required Customer Equipment
The equipment required for ConcentricDSL service is simply an
Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in a PC, along with
Internet capable software. Alternately, a network hub may be used to
attach multiple PCs, or a router may be used to attach a Local Area
Network (LAN). The installation service includes testing for Internet
connectivity from a PC. If a NIC card is not installed in the
customer's PC already, Concentric technicians can install and configure
one.
