<I presume that this July 20th press release means that Ericsson believes that L&H's text to speech and compression technology is far superior to that offered by GMGC, correct? The inference being that this does not bode well for GMGC?>

A strange presumption. Europe has decided speaking on a phone and driving are at odds with safety. They have mandated a hands free phone use policy. So, companies need to have a SUI.

One could argue that L&H is a cannon to swat a fly for hands free phone use. It's very reasonable that Ericsson has other plans for the future. But you know projects of the scope of Portico take a long time to develop. One can never assume the market won't be competitive.

What you should hope for is that GMGC has a good product intro next month. If users like it, they rack up more usage time, and all the people they talk to will become curious what they are doing. This product may spread like a flu if they can prove good service.

I think it'll be a job to get a user started. The system may be hard to set up. That will be a test. We shall see.

Regards,

Mark

PS I think if they do it right, every e-mail a user sends will have instructions with how to open a .wav file. This instruction will have all the links to GMGC and eventually getting the service. It will be a great advertisement.
