Thomas -

<<My idea about the hiring picture simply was that a cost-conscious co. like LLTC wouldn't want to hire if they didn't think they need it because of the tremendous market opportunities <g> and/or engineering potential for their products. Of course, it could also be that LLTC is a lousy employer and engineers are constantly jumping. I would hope not, and I doubt it since remuneration in options and shares is an integral part of the package I read, and the employees cannot complain about the performance of the shares. Just thinking aloud... Any views welcome.

I thought about another thing: 50% of LLTC sales are made internationally. But in all the old results release I read from the last 4 to 6 quarters, I never heard them whine how hard the strong U.S. dollar hit their bottom line. In fact, they delivered the positive earnings and sales figures in the face of a rising dollar. Now imagine if the dollar would have been flat over the last year - or if it declined slightly in the times ahead... sure wouldn't hurt.>>

LLTC has continually added to its engineering staff over time. This is an absolute requirement for growth as there are no magic bullets for engineering productivity (designs/engineer). Fortunately, most of LLTC's products have relatively long useful production lives, especially compared to the typical digital whatsits.

The currency impact has been minimal, mostly because LLTC's products do not generally appear in end products destined for SE Asia. In fact there have been some small positive cost impacts from Test and Assembly operations in Singapore and Malaysia. Japan and Korea are a different story and their economic weakness has restrained growth.

BTW, you should note that LLTC is impacted today by Analog Device's warning. (ADI). Here there _is_ competition, and the warning does increase the probability of weaker orders going forward.

Regards, Don
