Richard,
CHK went on a fast track program of mergers with several small companies, both oil and natural gas, this has many wall street types confused.... as a result of crude prices falling this stock is beat down. It would seem that they fear a hostile takeover but would welcome merger with anyone who would not change top managers. The true book value is much higher than the $3.00/share ...this will be taken into account in merger of either kind. ek
