Situation Ethics - During the Bosnian war. Serb forces went house to house searching for Muslim men in Sarajevo. They came to one house in the Muslim enclave. The residents, former Muslims, had converted to Christianity before the war. The Serbs had killed the woman's husband, and she had hidden her 16 yr. old son under the floor. The soldiers asked her if there were any males in the house. She told them that both her son and her husband had been killed. The soldiers searched the house but did not find her son.

Question: Did the woman do right? Did she tell the truth? What would you have done? Does the ninth commandment(Ex. 20:16) require us to tell the truth even if doing so means hurt or death for someone? Why?

I would appreciate your response to this.

God was in Christ reconcilling the world unto Himself.

David
