Actually according to Ben

It wasn't that the holders of the options decided not to exercise, it was that they decided on Friday not to sell their options and were autoexercised.

And I have yet to hear any analysis from Victor that applies the Cramer article to NOVL. That's because it doesn't apply and he doesn't analyze.

The Cramer article was about people whose options are just in or out of the money but not enough to cover their premium. They exercise the option and wait until Monday hoping for a movement on Monday in their direction. When the stock moves against them and they can't pony up the money to pay for the stock and thus continue to hold for a better price they tell their broker to sell at a further loss.

I don't see where this applies to Novell where there were all gains in the options for most option buyers.
