RE: DELL WRESTING CONTROL FROM PORTALS! THIS IS FASCINATING! DELL COULD EASILY DO THIS. SET UP A START PAGE TO BE VIEWED ON EACH DELL COMPUTER AND THROUGH ARRANGEMENTS WITH FIRMS LIKE K-MART CREATE ON LINE SHOPPING MALL. There is a cross-pollination here too. Sell Dell computers to companies so that in-store foot traffic uses Dell merchandise to go to the Dell hompage to buy K-Mart stuff or Wards or Sears or etc. Does anayone have any thoughts on Dell becoming an Internet player as well as a box maker? I find this absolutely fascinating as Ross Perot used to say. Dell is the pioneer in Direct sales why shouldnt Dell also be a facilitor of direct sales of merchandise? Or is this getting away from the what the company does best and lilkely to be as bad as Gilette buying Everready batteries or Pepsi buying Pizza Hut?
