Dee Jay IMHO, Big Al, "the banker's pal" Greenspan spoke the concensus opinion of all of the Federal Reserve Governors, not just for himself. The large cap rally is overblown and would hurt everyone in a downdraft. All twelve Regional Federal Reserve banks would be hurt in this downdraft. Secondly, if you are a German or Japanese investor, you don't buy MRVC, you buy IBM or Intel. Foreigners tend to misread the US stock market because they have limited information overseas. Just as in 1987 when the Japanese overbought - then oversold US stocks... this could have been repeating itself if Big Al didn't say something. Big Al knows about "melt downs." He was there in '87 and he could see it start to happen - even though employment is down and there is no threat of inflation "on the horizon" (thanks to our Republican Congress)...just look at oil prices and the run up in all the oil and oil service stocks (reminds you of 1980...if you can remember that far back...)
