with the low cost of disks these days, I use NT mirroring to protect against disk failure. If the disk fails I don't even go down, let alone lose data.

This can also be done with Win9X but requires you to use a controller that does disk mirroring in the controller so that it is invisible to the OS. There are several on the market, both SCSI and IDE, which support this.

Note this is no substitute for backup, which I mostly use to protect myself from my own stupidity (cleaning out folders which actually have stuff I need in them, for example).
