>>> The strategy to use the power of the Net to harness consumer transactions?

I agree. CheckFree has been good at using the Net as a tool to get payments, but hasn't be using the real power of the net, which is advertising, spreading the word, or what ever you want to call it. I will be the first to admit that CF can't do the advertising themselves, it's up to the banks etc.

That being said, the NationsBank contract is due up in mid-september, and maybe a good strategy would be to push the banks to advertise through the contract that checkfree signs with them. Maybe to the point that CF is really doing the advertising, it just looks like NationsBank is doing it.

But then it always comes back to the limitations of the banks systems, and the fact that Web based banking is the real pot of gold, which is very dependent on the banks systems. In conclusion, I think the best thing CF could do for now would try to sell one of the major banks on the fact that they need an alliance with a major portal, something like NationsBank and Yahoo, or Chase and Lycos, etc.. If one bank was to do it, the others would be sure to follow.

Benny(IMHO, just thinking out loud)
