Grant, It's often not very relevant about a mining companies finances.
I look first at management, second at the property and lastly at their financial condition. Mining needs big capital, but it's easy to get if they make a big hit. Take CHIP for instance: Little funds in the bank and management has had some problems with misfortune in the past. However, their JV partner appears to have the needed technology and the expertise to make this project go. It will most likely be either a real winner or a big flop. Mining is a lot like drilling an oil well, maybe a bunch of dry holes in a row and things look pretty bleak. The drill finds the goods and you have instantly created a winner. It's an exciting industry but can be boom or bust. The junior miners are, in many cases a crap shoot, as you don't know what the next drill hole looks like. These desert properties are an entirely different end of the industry. For instance, I have no doubts that IPM has the goods. They have run about 6000 samples through analysis and the metals are there. Not one dry hole out of more than 100. Only thing left open here is proof that the technology can be found that will extract the metals from the dirt. I think the company is close to proving up the process, if I'm right I'm going to make a bundle, if not --it's bad news. It's not a stock for 'widders and orphans.'
