Good points. What makes the situation even more perilous for MSPG and for the other dialup oriented ISPs is that the FCC is expected to initiate a rulemaking process on August 8 which will allow the Bell companies to deploy high speed XDSL access through an unregulated subsidiary. What this means is that the phone companies will not be obliged to resell the service at a wholesale discount to ISPs such as MSPG. The Bells will obviously sell XDSL access to their customers bundled with internet access, eliminating the need for a MSPG or ELNK except by the customers who are the most price sensitive and are unwilling to pay for high speed access. Over time of course high speed will be the standard. Bell Atlantic did a presentation to investors on Friday and they were very confident about this. This sounds like it could make the current MSPG offering obsolete over a reasonable period of time.
