>>But seems what institutions are looking for is Eric B.'s departure.<<
The institutions may want a change in management, but they definitely don't want to see Eric B. leave. He's considered a good guy.
The new executive coming in, Claflin, is a hands-on, operational person with excellent marketing skills. I would think that's exactly what the institutionals have been looking to see.
It just takes time to turnaround the company and patience is required. Usually 2 consecutive stable quarters are needed to prove that the company is back on its feet. We are all hoping that since we've had one good quarter, and things are looking good, that the market would respond. Especially, when net stocks and hi-tech big caps are skyrocketing upwards. Well, it may be too much to soon to ask. Also, a lot of $$ are flowing into MSFT, DELL, AOL, YAHOO. Today, AOL is up 8 1/4, and YAHOO is up 10 1/2. The market caps on these guys are possibly bigger than they are for COMS.
The market right now is being very cautious by going into big-caps and certainly there's no movement into the small caps. (The exception is how $$ are flowing into the Net stocks which seem to be total speculation).
So, I'm wondering if 3COM is being temporarily treated as a mid or small cap. |
