<A word of caution to short-sellers; although the underlying reason for the secondary would be to pick a plum, the active participation of the major retail brokerages may spur the price even higher, (institutions will stay away except for, perhaps, a quick turn). >

I've been getting high-pressure sales calls from breathless brokers to buy their internet stuff, including Morgan Stanley's fund, which is another source of major cash to take into calculation. These guys are perfectly prepared to pump the retail buyers. This might be a source for a few hundred million in the event of a secondary. I couldn't believe it when I told the MSDW caller that I thought internet stocks were highly overvalued, he said "well, you can average in". Such is the retail psychology these days.
