WILSONVILLE, Ore., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE:TEK)
today announced David N. Campbell, president of BBN Technologies, a unit of
GTE, was elected to the company's board of directors. Campbell's election
brings board membership to nine.
"We are pleased to announce this addition to the board," said Jerry Meyer,
Tektronix chairman and CEO. "David's profile includes marketing and building
growth businesses, two areas of critical importance to Tektronix.
Additionally, his expertise in leading advanced networking and Internet
projects parallels many of Tektronix' current programs."
BBN Technologies, a principal business unit of GTE Internetworking, was
key to the development of ARPANET, the forerunner to today's Internet. The
company also led the effort on the Defense Data Network and has built networks
for many of the world's leading corporations and government agencies,
including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), The
Department of Defense, MasterCard International and the US Treasury.
Before joining BBN in 1994, Campbell spent 25 years at CTG, an NYSE-listed
information technology services company based in Buffalo, New York that
experienced a 22 percent compounded annual growth rate after he was named
chairman and CEO in 1984.
Campbell started his career at IBM after graduating with a bachelor's
degree in mathematics from Niagara University, New York. During his tenure at
IBM, he earned a master's degree in operations research from State University
of New York, Buffalo.
