BEA Acquires Entersoft to Expand Middleware Solutions Capabilities
Leading Distributor of BEA TOP END Brings Additional Middleware Sales, Development,
Services Expertise to BEA
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 21, 1998-- BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:BEAS - news), a market leader
in mission-critical middleware solutions, today announced it has acquired Entersoft Systems Corporation, the Bridgewater,
N.J.-based master distributor of BEA TOP END(R).
BEA acquired the TOP END enterprise middleware software suite from NCR Corporation (NYSE:NCR - news) in May.
The Entersoft acquisition closed July 20; financial terms were not disclosed.
With the acquisition of Entersoft, BEA gains 23 employees with extensive sales, development, and professional services
expertise with enterprise middleware. The company has approximately 40 customers including the U.S. Postal Service,
AT&T, Bell South, Verifone, Ameritech, Caldors, Delta Airlines, British Airways, and Prudential Bank.
Entersoft is a three-year-old company specializing in an array of professional services capabilities for enterprise middleware
customers, including middleware development services, technical design, proof-of-concept projects, custom development, and
training for large enterprise customers. In addition, as NCR's master distributor for TOP END, Entersoft has ported the
product family to non-NCR platforms.
Entersoft also brings several add-on technologies to BEA, including integration software for IBM's MQSeries, a BEA
TUXEDO(R)-BEA TOP END gateway, gateways to MVS and other major software platforms, and additional software to
assist customers with the Object Management Group's Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA), publish and
subscribe, and client queuing.
