Intel and AMD already share the flash memory market.

I don't see any reason why they can't share the x86 CPU market, too.

Given the size and potential of the micro processor market, I think that there is room for both Intel and AMD to prosper.

The biggest long-term threat I see is that Intel will switch to 0.25u process technology significantly faster than AMD. For details on this threat, see Paul Engel's posts on the Intel thread at techstocks.com and techstocks.com.
