Speaking of frothy levels, I picked this up off of the Kaplan site:

"The price-to-earnings ratio of the Standard and Poor's 500 Stock Index (average stock price divided by average earnings per share) touched 30.114 in the late morning on Monday, July 20, 1998, a new all-time record."
