this was already known, expected. but i can see why people panic if they just became aware of it. possibly it is the way bloomberg worded the article as some important very positive points were left out of this article. Dell's component costs are 40% less this quarter than last year's comparitive quarter. their component costs will be even less as a percent of ASP once they bring their data storage opeation on line. savings in this area would equal another 5% to 10% relative to total component costs. average ASPs for certain boxes may fall while average ASPs for servers and laptops are about the same. so you don't know which sector of Dell's line the article is referring to.
